About this Statement

Believing that the Holy Spirit speaks through the Body of Christ, we asked our Congregation their thoughts on where this Church should be headed for the future.  When then sought to identify any recurring trends in the responses.  We found the following trends:

• A desire for growth in numbers—we like to see an increasing number of participants

• A desire growth in the depth of our faith—we want to know more about, and grow closer to, Jesus Christ

• An increased presence in our Community—we want to do more in, and for, our neighbors.  This is in keeping with our prior decision to incrementally increase our Outreach giving each year

 

Seeking to grow in our knowledge, understanding, and living out of our faith is commended throughout Scripture (see Colossians 1:10, 2 Thessalonians 1:3, 1 Peter 2:2).  To love our neighbors is a fundamental principle taught by Christ.  And the spreading of the Good News is a command from Christ himself (Matthew 28:19 – 20).

 

From this we cemented our new Vision Statement:  Growing Together in Christ (through Worship, Discipleship, and Outreach).  We seek to grow in our faith through worship and study; we will grow in numbers through our presence in our community and by actively inviting others to join us.
